One of our two products commemorating U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Orlando, FL (RTC Orlando)!
The obverse/front of this dog tag style coin depicts the two emblems associated with RTC Orlando during its 27 years in existence: the official command emblem and the emblem that adorned The Rudder for many years. A traditional dog tag hole was not included to allow the placement of both emblems.
The reverse/back side depicts the state of Florida and the location of Naval Training Center Orlando, the landmark “Navy World” water tower (often referred to as the Doorknob to Hell), Navy covers for both male and female sailors since RTC Orlando was the Navy’s only recruit training center which trained male and female sailors, the USS Bluejacket (or USS Neversail), the numerals 1968-1995, and finally the phrase “The Adventure Begins Here,” which was obviously a play on the Navy’s slogan during a large portion of that period: The Navy, It’s Not Just a Job, It’s an Adventure.
A unique item for all RTC Orlando veterans and ideally suited for placement in shadow/retirement boxes.
