Our USCINCEUR Airborne Command Post (USCINCEUR ABNCP/Silk Purse) coin commemorates the United States Commander-in-Chief Europe Airborne Command Post's 30-year history.
The obverse/front side depicts the EC-135H aircraft which was flown for the majority of this period. Also represented are the emblems for the aircrew and battle staffs which participated: Silk Purse Control Group, 7120th ACCS, and the 10th ACCS. Also included is the HQ EUCOM emblem.
The reverse/back side depicts the other two aircraft that were flown during the Cold War: the EC-54 and the C-118. Adorning the top portion are enamel-colored maps of the three countries the ABNCP called home - Chateauroux Air Station France, RAF Mildenhall England, and Lajes Field Azores. As a joint command, members of the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force made up this unique flight crew which was part of the World Wide Airborne Command Post Network (WWABNCP).
